Trial Information

Summary: A Phase I Study of Bortezomib and Temozolomide in Patients with Refractory Solid Tumors

You have been asked to take part in this research study because you have advanced cancer in your brain or in another part of your body that is no longer responding to standard treatment. The purpose of this research study is to find the highest doses of bortezomib and temozolomide that can be given together without causing unmanageable side effects and to learn about the side effects of this combination of drugs. Another purpose of this study is to look at how the level of bortezomib in the blood is affected when a patient is taking certain medications, such as anti-seizure drugs. A third purpose of this study is to see if bortezomib can cross into the central nervous system when cancer is present in the brain. Your treatment on this study is expected to last for at least 8 weeks, but may continue longer if your tumors are not growing and you are not experiencing any unmanageable side effects. Your medical condition will be followed indefinitely once your treatment on this study is complete.
