Trial Information
Summary: Nausea caused by Chemotherapy for Cancer
North Shore University Hospital is currently recruiting subjects
to participate in a research study to determine if ginger (a food
additive) capsules given in addition to the current best medication
to manage nausea caused by chemotherapy, can provide even better
control of that nausea. We also want to see what dose of ginger
works best, and we want to measure quality of life of
participants.
Study drug will be made available to you at no cost.
To qualify, you must:
- Have a diagnosis of cancer and are 18 years of age or
older
- Be scheduled to receive at least 3 cycles of chemotherapy
- Have experienced nausea following the first chemotherapy
treatment
- Be receiving a 5-HT3 anti-nausea drug with
dexamethasone
You do not qualify if you:
- Will have your chemotherapy interrupted with surgery, radiation
therapy, or interferon treatment
- Have had prior chemotherapy within 6 months
- Have a bowel obstruction or brain metastases
- Are taking Coumadin or Heparin
- Have a history of any bleeding disorder, or platelets >
1000,000/µL
