Trial Information
Summary: Double Blind Placebo-Controlled Study Exploring an Investigational Treatment for Generalized Anxiety Disorder in Outpatients.
The Anxiety Disorders Clinic at the New York State Psychiatric
Institute invites you to participate in a research study of an
investigational medication. We are testing whether this medication
is effective for the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder
(GAD), which is characterized by excessive anxiety and worry that
is difficult to control.
If you are between 18 and 65 years old, and have been feeling
anxious and worried about a number of things like health, finances,
work, school, or relationships, you may have GAD and may qualify to
participate in this study. All study-related evaluations,
laboratory tests, investigational study medication, and visits are
free of charge.
Patients with recent drug abuse or dependence, requiring other
psychotropic medications during the study, current Major Depressive
Disorder, a history of Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, or
Schizoaffective Disorder, or who have significant and unstable
medical problems (for example: uncontrolled hypertension,
uncontrolled diabetes, HIV or AIDS, among others) are not
eligible.
