Trial Information

Summary: The University of Arizona Health Sciences Center is currently recruiting subjects to participate in an experimental study for treating children with ulcerative colitis.

Study drug and procedures (including medical monitoring of ulcerative colitis symptoms) will be made available at no cost. Compensation will be provided for study participation as well as reimbursement for travel expenses.

To qualify, patients must:

  • Be between 5 and 17 years of age,
  • Have mild to moderate active ulcerative colitis symptoms (inflammation of the large intestine and rectum)

Patients will not qualify if they:

  • Have severe ulcerative colitis,
  • Are known to be intolerant or allergic to salicylates (e.g,: Bayer, Bufferin, Ecotrin),
  • Have received immunosuppressant drugs (drugs to control autoimmune diseases) within 90 days before the study.
