Summary: PHI-48 NCI#6777: Phase I and Pharmacodynamic Study of SB-715992 in Acute Leukemia

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have either recently been diagnosed with acute leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia in blastic phase that has not responded to imatinib, advanced myelodysplastic syndrome, or have acute leukemia which has not responded to or has returned after therapy. The purpose of this study is to 1) determine the highest dose of the investigational drug SB-715992 that can be given daily for 3 days without causing unmanageable side effects, 2) study the side effects of SB-715992, and 3) determine the concentration of SB-715992 in the blood at certain times during therapy. Your participation in this study is expected to last approximately 21 weeks for treatment, depending on how you respond to the treatment, and six weeks for follow-up.
