Summary: To investigate the efficacy of 200,400,600 mg/day of SPM927 compared with a placebo in reducing pain in subjects with painful distal diabetic neuropathy.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Males/Females 18 years and older.
  • Has symptoms of painful distal diabetic neuropathy for 6 months to 5 years and has diagnosis of diabetes mellitus I or II.
  • HBA1c levels of 12 % or lower with optimized diabetic control.
