Trial Information
Summary: A placebo-controlled safety study to evaluate the cognitive effects of an investigational drug as add-on treatment in children 4-16 years old with refractory partial onset seizures.
We are currently conducting a research study for children with
partial onset seizures not controlled adequately by their current
medications. This study is testing an investigational drug as an
add-on anti-epileptic medication to determine how the drug affects
memory, learning, attention, behavior and quality of life in
children. If your child is between the ages of 4 and 16 years old
with a confirmed diagnosis of epilepsy for at least six months, he
or she may be eligible for a research study.
To be eligible to participate, you must:
- Be 4-16 years of age
- Must be on a stable dose of one or no more than two other
anti-epileptic medications
- The current medications are determined to be unsatisfactory in
terms of efficacy in adequately controlling the seizures and
alternative treatment with the study medication would be
beneficial
- Weigh <= 36 lbs.
All study related clinic visits, testing, and study medications
are provided at no cost. Compensation is provided.
