Summary: Hospitalized for heart failure? Consider this study as an addition to your standard care.

EVEREST, a new medical research study, tests the safety and effectiveness of an investigational drug for adults suffering from CHF. Heart failure patients who have been admitted to the hospital with worsening symptoms, such as difficulty breathing or leg swelling, may be eligible. The study drug (or a placebo) is administered in addition to other standard treatments.

Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible you must be admitted to the hospital within the past 48 hours. You are not eligible if you have had cardiac surgery in the past 60 days although you are still eligible if you had angioplasty. You are not eligible if you are planning on angioplasty, pacemaker insertion, defibrillator insertion, heart transplant or cardiac surgery within thirty days following study enrollment.
