Trial Information
Summary: High Risk Hypertension: A Phase III Active Comparator Study for Patients with High Blood Pressure and Elevated Risk for Heart attack or Stroke.
What is High Blood Pressure?
Blood pressure measures the force that the blood applies to the
walls of the arteries as it flows through them. It's normal for
blood pressure to increase when you exert yourself, or when you
feel stressed or anxious. But if the blood pressure is consistently
higher than normal at rest, this is high blood pressure, also known
as hypertension.
Am I at High Risk?
Patients are considered at risk if you suffer from hypertension
and have any other target organ damage. Target organ damage occurs
if you have suffered a prior heart attack or stroke, had any major
heart or revascularization surgery, or have type II diabetes.
