Summary: Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: A Controlled Diffusion Tensor Imaging Study

Summary:

At North Shore-LIJ Health System, the departments of Radiology and Psychiatry are conducting a research study about brain development and function in children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

We are recruiting patients that meet the following criteria:

  • Age 7-11 and are in general good health or
  • Age 7-11 and have been diagnosed with, or are undergoing evaluation for ADHD, Combined Type
  • Do not have any contraindications to MRI Scanning (e.g. metal implants, metal braces, etc.)
  • Do not have a learning disability

Participation involves:

  • ADHD screening and evaluation scheduled at your earliest convenience (consisting of an interview and neuropsychological testing)
  • An MRI scan
  • Total procedure takes about 4 hours, and can be done in 2 visits
  • Compensation will be provided to participants
