Summary: Stanford University Bipolar Disorders Clinic: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in Bipolar Disorder

Some patients with Bipolar Depression experience depressive symptoms despite their current treatment. A number of studies suggested that rTMS may have utility in major depression. In this study, the patients will be treated with rTMS and monitored during up to 4 weeks. However it is not a standard treatment modality and it is not known whether this form of treatment can relieve the symptoms of bipolar depression.
