Summary: Stanford Studies Health Benefits of Alcohol.

Dr. Gerald Reaven and his associates at Stanford University Medical Center are studying the relationship of moderate alcohol consumption and their possible health benefits. We are seeking volunteers who are 35-65 years old, overweight and/or have family history of diabetes or heart disease. Participants must drink minimal amount of alcohol (1-3/drinks per week) and DO NOT already have history of diabetes, liver, kidney or heart disease, or heavy drinking.

All participants will receive: free medical examination, a test to evaluate risk for diabetes and heart disease, cholesterol panel, and evaluation of heart disease risk factors.
