Summary: S0211: A Phase II Trial of ST1571 for the Treatment of Platinum and Taxane Refractory Stage III and IV Epithelial Ovarian Cancer and Primary Peritoneal Cancer.

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have epithelial ovarian cancer or primary peritoneal cancer that is no longer responding to first line treatment. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of treatment with STI571 TM or Imatinib> in terms of tumor response and side effects when given to subjects with epithelial ovarian cancer or primary peritoneal cancer. In addition, laboratory tests will be done on epithelial ovarian cancer and primary peritoneal carcinoma specimens to see whether they contain factors that make these tumors likely to react to this drug. These factors are called CD117 and PDGFR level determination.
