Summary: Stool DNA Markers for the Detection of Dysplasia and Carcinoma in Inflammatory Bowel Disease Patients.

The purpose of this study is to see whether an experimental stool DNA study (a test that has not yet been proven to be a valid test for cancer) may be able to accurately identify Inflammatory Bowel Disease patients with or at high risk of developing dysplasia (pre-cancer) or colorectal cancer. The test will analyze the DNA that is shed from intestinal cells into the stool and compare them with results from regular exams or surgical procedures you may have scheduled. Upon entering the study, a blood sample will be taken and you will be given two stool kits to take home for sample collection. Some follow up samples will be necessary.

Patient Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria:

You are eligible for this study if you have an IBD diagnosis (either Crohn's Disease or Ulcerative Colitis) for at least 8 years and are either undergoing active surveillance or are scheduled for colectomy.

You are not eligible for this study if you have had an IBD diagnosis (either Crohn's disease of Ulcerative Colitis) for less than 8 years or if you have already had a colectomy.
