Summary: A Multicenter, Double-blind Study to Evaluate the Effect of Pre-treatment With a Daily Dose of Viagra (sildenafil citrate) on the PRN Efficacy of Viagra in Men With Erectile Dysfunction and Type 2 Diabetes
You have been asked to participate in this research study
because you have a combination of medical conditions known as Type
2 Diabetes and Erectile Dysfunction. The main purpose of this study
is to see how daily dosing with Viagra® (sildenafil
citrate) or placebo (a tablet with no active ingredient) for 4
weeks followed by 12 weeks of PRN (as needed) dosing of
Viagr® may affect erectile function in type 2 diabetic
men between the ages of 35 and 70 years old. The secondary purpose
of this study is to investigate how Viagra® may affect
the function of endothelial cells (flat cells that line the inside
of some body cavities, blood vessels, and arteries). Your
participation in this study will last about 18 weeks.
