Trial Information
Summary: Identifying Bladder Origin Pelvic Pain/ Interstitial Cystitis in Gynecologic Patients and their Treatment with Pentosan Polysulfate (Elmiron) vs. placebo. This is a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial of pentosan polysulfate (Elmiron) for the treatment of chronic pelvic pain in women. This is a four-month study requiring three office visits.
Women with chronic pelvic pain may have undiagnosed interstitial
cystitis. The goal of this study is to determine if treatment with
a medicine approved for the treatment of interstitial cystitis can
help relieve chronic pelvic pain in women.
Study Inclusion Criteria:
- Women age 18-75
- Chronic Pelvic Pain for > 6 months
