Summary: Pain relief in patients with peripheral neuropathic pain conditions

A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study of lidocaine patch 5% alone, gabapentin alone, and lidocaine patch 5% and gabapentin in combination for the relief of pain in patients with diverse peripheral neuropathic pain conditions.

You may be eligible to participate in this research trial if you:

  • Are a male or female 18 years of age or older
  • Have been clinically diagnosed with PHN (Postherpetic neuralgia), DN (Diabetic neuropathy), carpal tunnel syndrome, HIV neuropathy or other peripheral neuropathy
  • Have never received an analgesic regimen that contains lidocaine or gabapentin
  • Do not have a history of alcohol or substance abuse within the last 3 years
  • Are not taking class I anti-arrhythmic drugs (e.g. Mexiletine, tocainide)
  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding
