Summary: The Thrombotic Profiles of Cyclooxygenase Inhibitors Alone and in Combination with Low-Dose Aspirin in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).

We are looking for 66 arthritic patients (55 with rheumatoid arthritis and 11 with osteoarthritis) to participate in our research study. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effects of rofecoxib, celecoxib, and naproxen alone and in combination with low-dose aspirin on the blood’s ability to clot in patients with arthritis. This study will help determine which medication regimen will most likely keep the blood from forming clots and decrease the risk of having a heart attack or stroke.

You must:

• Be between 18 and 65 years of age
• Be within 30% of your ideal body weight
• Not have had a heart attack, stroke, angioplasty, or bypass surgery

• 4 visits over one month period lasting approximately one hour
• free medical examination and blood work
• compensation for time and travel expenses
