Trial Information
Summary: Severe Liver Fibrosis due to Hepatitis C
A phase II, double blind, randomized, placebo-controlled,
multicenter, study of the safety and anti-fibrotic efficacy of
interferon-gamma 1b (IFN-Y 1b) in patients with severe liver
fibrosis or compensated cirrhosis due to Hepatitis C.
You may be eligible to participate in the above clinical
research study if you:
- Have chronic hepatitis C infection
- Are between the ages of 18 and 75 years of age
- Have not benefited from prior treatment with
interferon-alpha-based therapies or combinations of therapies
- Are willing to undergo a liver biopsy
- Have not been treated with interferon-a-based therapy within
the past 12 months.
- Do not have any of the following: autoimmune hepatitis, chronic
hepatitis B, Wilson’s disease, drug-or toxin induced liver disease,
alcohol-related liver disease, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic
lupus, autoimmune thyroid disease, and are not HIV
positive.
