Trial Information
Summary: Study for people who have acquired pneumonia outside the hospital
35 day study for people who participate they will receive:
- Physician's assessment
- Study medication
- labs and x-rays
- Compensation for participation
No placebo, 1,500 patients will be studied worldwide
To be qualify:
- Age 16 or older
- Doctor's diagnosis of community-acquired pneumonia,
confirmed by X-ray
- Have at least one of these symptoms:
- New or increased cough; purulent sputum or change in sputum
characteristics;
- sharp chest pain;
- fluid in lungs determined by a doctor's stethoscope
examination;
- shortness of breath and/or rapid breathing;
- abnormal white blood cell count as determined by a
doctor.
- Have a fever or history of fever with this episode of
respiratory illness or subnormal oxygenation of arterial
blood.
