Summary: Children's Asthma Research

The purpose of this study is to determine how moderate to severe allergic asthma affects children between the ages of 6 and 11 years old and their parents. The study will assess the child's quality of life, growth, missed days of school, asthma treatments and doctor visits. The sudy will also assess how the parent or caregiver's quality of life and attendance at work are affected by their child's asthma. Participating children must be diagnosed with moderate to severe allergic asthma, which is not well controlled. This study does not involve taking any new medicines or treatments for asthma.

To be eligible to participate in this study volunteers must meet the following criteria:

  • Be between the ages of 6 years and less than 12 years
  • Have a Diagnosis of Asthma for at least 12 months
  • Have a History of allergies to dust mites or household pet

Volunteers will not be eligible to participate if they meet any of the following criteria:

  • Have a serious respiratory condition other than asthma
  • Have a severe medical condition
