Trial Information
Summary: Cerebral Palsy bone study
Dr. Christine Houlihan of the University of Virginia is conducting a clinical study to look at how childrens bones grow and mature when they have Cerebral Palsy. This information will be compared to growth in children that do not have Cerebral Palsy.
Who can be in this study?
Children aged 6 to 10 years of age who have not reached puberty Children who have Cerebral Palsy Children who are growing typically to serve as a comparison group
How much time will the study take?
You will need to come to three visits over a two year period Each visit will take about 2 hours Your participation in this study is expected to last two years
What will happen during the study?
You will have a physical exam and we will ask you to answer some questions about school, activities and your health You will have a bone scan at Kluge Childrens Rehabilitation Center You will have a special type of CT Scan at the main hospital You will have blood drawn to check Calcium and Vitamin D levels
Will you be paid for being in this study?
For each completed visit you will receive a $15 Wal-Mart and a $15 Toys R Us gift card.
Will being in this study cost you any money?
The study will cover the cost of the study related exams and scans
