Trial Information

Summary: Men and Women 18 or older needed for study of arterial blood clotes of the leg

UVa Health System, Department of Radiology, seeks men and women 18 years or older with a new blood clot in an artery or by-pass graft in the leg, for a research study.

The purpose of the study is to find out if an experimental drug, Plasmin, is safe and helpful in treating patients with these types of blood clots. The study involves a five hour infusion of Plasmin directly into the clot. An arteriogram will be done before, during, and after the treatment to check blood flow in the leg. Participants will be hospitalized for the treatment period and will be required to return for two visits to the clinic (at one week and one month after Plasmin treatment) for an ultrasound and exam of the treated leg.

The experimental drug is provided at no costs to study participants.
Participants will be expected to pay for the costs of the arteriogram and other procedures which are normally required for treating this type of condition.
Participants will receive $50.00 for completion of the one-week outpatient visit
