Summary: Volunteers Needed for Atrial Fibrillation Study

Dr. Khaled Ziada, of the University of Kentucky Gill Heart Institute, is conducting a research study to demonstrate the effi cacy of a study drug compared to Warfarin (Coumadin) for the prevention of strokes in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.

You may qualify for this study if you had a stroke in the past year or if you have three of the following:

  • hypertension
  • over age 75
  • diabetes
  • heart failure

If you qualify, you will be compensated for your participation. The study drug will be provided free of charge. In addition, your willingness to take part in this study may result in the possibility of discontinuing Warfarin (Coumadin) therapy.
