Trial Information
Summary: Treatment Naïve Subjects with Genotype 1 Chronic Hepatitis C - Adults
People with chronic hepatitis C are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by North Shore University Hospital.
You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:
- Are 18-70 years of age
- Have been diagnosed with chronic hepatitis C
You may not participate in this study if you:
- Have a history of a blood disease such as sickle cell disease or heart disease (e.g. angina, congestive heart failure, recent heart attack, or arrhythmia)
- Have abnormal thyroid function
- Have diabetes mellitus
- Have evidence of autoimmune hepatitis on liver biopsy, or have any other significant liver disease or cancer
- Have a severe psychiatric condition including, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar illness, severe anxiety or personality disorder
- Have a history of head trauma or active seizure disorder
- Have had an organ transplant (except a cornea transplant or skin graft)
- Have an autoimmune-mediated disease (e.g. Crohn’s disease)
- Have a history of pancreatitis within 5 years
- Have a history of eye problems due to diabetes mellitus or hypertension
- Have a history of chronic pulmonary disease, hemophilia, severe bacterial or fungal infections, including tuberculosis
- Have a history of illicit drug or alcohol abuse within 2 years
- Are allergic to tartrazine (yellow dye #5)
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant during the study
- Have participated in another research study within the last 30 days
