Summary: Clinical trial to test a study vaccine to prevent pneumococcal disease

To evaluate the immune response (how your body fights the germs) that the study vaccine may produce compared to the immune response that the currently approved 23vPS may produce.

Study drug and study procedures will be made available to you at no cost.

To qualify, you must:

• Be at least 70 years of age or older
• Documented vaccination with 1 dose of 23vPS (Pneumovax) at least 5 years before study enrollment

You will not qualify if you have:

• History of severe adverse reaction associated with a vaccine
• Receipt of any vaccine within 30 days before vaccine administration, except influenza vaccine
• Residence in a nursing home, long-term care facility, or other institution or requirement of semi-skilled nursing care.
• Intent to receive any other investigational vaccine, study drug or device from 1 month (30 days) before enrollment until the conclusion of the study
