Summary: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Study
Novartis is conducting this clinical research study is to compare multiple increasing doses of an intravenous (iv) investigational drug to determine if it is safe and effective for participants with moderate to severe Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (also known as COPD) and are between the ages of 40 and 75 years old. An "investigational drug" is a drug that is being tested and is not approved for sale in the United States by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Participants will receive a total of 13 intravenous (IV) infusions (directly into the vein) of the investigational drug over a period of 45 weeks. There will be a 12 week follow-up period where there will be no drug administered. The total duration of the study is 57 weeks.
