Trial Information

Summary: Parent and Child Trauma(PACT)Family Intervention

PACT is a voluntary clinical research program consisting of at least 4 months of trauma focused-cognitive behavioral therapy. PACT aims to help girls address mental health issues related to their experiences of trauma, and enhance parent and child communication regarding the traumatic experience of sexual abuse. We believe that providing family-based services to these families will have a positive impact on both youth mental health and family processes. This program is of no cost to families, and the girls and their parent/guardian will receive incentives for their participation in the PACT Family Program. We also have capacity to provide services for Spanish speaking families.
Compensation Provided

Patient Inclusion/Exclusion Criteria:

Adolescent girls (ages 11 to 14) who have experienced sexual abuse and live in the NYC area.

Girls who are still experiencing abuse and live with the offender can not be treated in this program. Unfortunately, PACT is not able to provide treatment to girls who have been diagnosed with mental retardation/autism or girls with current suicidal/homicidal ideation and/or psychosis. We are also unable to accept girls into the program who are currently in foster care.
