Summary: A5232: Optimizing Vaccine Responsiveness in HIV-1 and HCV Infections by Identifying Determinants of Responsiveness: A Pilot Study

Do you have HIV or Hepatitis C or both?

The AIDS Clinical Trials Unit (ACTU) at Massachusetts General Hospital is conducting a study to investigate the extent of immune defects in people who have Hepatitis C, HIV or both. This will be done by giving people tetanus toxoid and Hepatitis A and B vaccines and then measuring the response of the immune system. To qualify you must be 18 to 65 years old, be HIV positive, Hepatitis C positive or both and have not received vaccines for either Hepatitis A or Hepatitis B. Participants must not be receiving treatment for HIV or Hepatitis C. The study will last about 24 weeks and will involve 8 clinic visits.
