Summary: 7 month chronic bronchitis or emphysema (COPD) research study

Physicians from IHA Internal Medicine and Family Medicine are currently conducting a research study for subjects who have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. The study will measure the effectiveness and safety in dosing of an investigational inhalation drug. An investigational drug is one that has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

This drug belongs to a group of drugs known as long acting cholinergic medications. Inhaled long-acting anticholinergic drugs are designed help you to breathe easier. This study will also compare the study drug to another drug of the same group, which is supplied in an inhalation device.

If you answer YES to ALL of the following you may be able to participate:

• Are you over 40 years of age?
• Have you been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder?
• Are you a past or current smoker?
• If you have other medical conditions are they currently under control?

If you answer YES to ANY of the following you will not be able to participate:

• Have you been diagnosed with asthma?
• Do you have a recent history of having a heart attack or stroke?
• Have you been hospitalized for heart failure in the past 3 years?
• Have you been treated with radiation or chemotherapy in the past 5 years?
