Trial Information
Summary: A research study for patients with symptoms of overactive
bladder.
Overactive Bladder?
Why not try a medical research study?
If you have a spinal cord injury or multiple sclerosis, and
suffer from an overactive bladder, you may qualify for the
DignityToo Study - a medical research study.
As someone with an overactive bladder, you know the importance
of planning for the unexpected. Frequent incontinence episodes can
be frustrating when planning daily activities. Even simple
activities may require special precautions such as carrying extra
pads or packing an extra change of clothes. This, of course, most
likely limits what activities you allow yourself to do, and
ultimately affects your quality of life. If you're caring for
someone with this condition, you know all too well what day-to-day
life is like. For most people with spinal cord injuries, nerve
damage results in overactive bladder causing frequent incontinent
episodes. For multiple sclerosis patients, spinal cord lesions
cause the symptoms. Bladder management options such as
self-catheterization may be inconvenient and have side effects such
as urinary tract infections. Other current treatments include
medications that may have accompanying side effects such as dry
mouth, constipation, and blurred vision.
Right now research is underway to develop a new treatment option
which may help improve the management of your overactive bladder
symptoms. The investigational medication being studied is approved
for other conditions and, in prior studies, has proven effective in
helping patients with a spinal cord injury or multiple sclerosis
reduce the frequency of urinary incontinence incidents.
Physicians in your area are conducting the DignityToo Study.
Qualifying participants will have a spinal cord injury between the
C5 and C8 vertebrae or have multiple sclerosis that essentially
restricts them to a wheelchair. They may also experience frequent
incontinent episodes due to overactive bladder and are looking for
an alternative to their current method of bladder management.
Potential participants will be evaluated to further determine
their eligibility. Investigational study medication, medical exams,
and lab tests will be provided to qualified participants at no
charge. Financial compensation for time and travel may also be
available. Visit www.dignitytoostudy.com to find out more.
