Summary: Are you Black/African-American or Hispanic and have been diagnosed with chronic Hepatitis B?
The GI division at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is currently conducing a research trial looking at Black/African American or Hispanic Adults 18-70 years of age who have been diagnosed with chronic Hepatitis B. The purpose of this study is to see how well the study medication, Entecavir (ETV) is at suppressing the reproduction of the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) in Black/African-American or Hispanic adults with chronic HBV infection who have not taken any oral antiviral medicine. The study medication, Entecavir, has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for treatment of chronic Hepatitis B.
If you are able to take part, you would be followed in the study for up to 76 weeks, and be asked to make up to 10 visits to the hospital. Visits will take about 1-1 ½ hours and will consist of a physical exam and vital signs, a blood draw, questions about your health and medical history, and taking a study drug. All people who take part will receive the study medication.
