Summary: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) - Adults and minors

People with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are at least 16 years of age
  • Have been diagnosed with SLE


You may not participate in this study if you:

  • Have glumerulonephritis
  • Have central nervous system SLE associate with cognitive impairment
  • Have been treated with rituximab, abatacept, or belimumab
  • Have herpes infection or Epstein-Barr virus
  • Are HIV positive or have hepatitis B or C
  • Have a history or presence of tuberculosis infection
  • Are diagnosed with or have a family history of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease
  • Have heart disease or heart failure
  • Have a history of cancer
  • Have a history of alcohol or drug abuse in the last 6 months
  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant during the study
  • Have participated in another research study within the last 30 days
