Trial Information

Summary: Understanding the Barriers and Facilitators to Adherence to Oral Chemotherapy in Youth with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

You have/your child has been asked to participate in this research study because you were/your child was treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at City of Hope within the past 10 years. The purpose of this study is to help researchers better understand the factors that may affect the period of ALL treatment known as “Maintenance” (a time when people with leukemia take chemotherapy pills at home on a daily basis).  The researchers are trying to find out what factors may make it more difficult to take these pills and factors that may help people take these pills regularly.  Your/your child’s participation in this study would involve a one-time interview, lasting about one hour, and filling out one to two questionnaires, which would take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.  You/your child may also be invited to participate in a focus group (discussion group led by one of the researchers) which would last for about two hours.  In addition, the researchers would review your/your child’s medical records to obtain information about your/your child’s leukemia treatment and current health status.
