Summary: A Double-Blind, Randomized, Pilot Study to Measure the Effect of Treatment Intensification with a Potent Integrase Inhibitor, Raltegravir (MK-0518), on the Level of Persistent Plasma Viremia below 50 copies/mL in Subjects on Protease Inhibitor- or Non-Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor-Containing Regimens

Are you HIV positive and on medications?


The AIDS Clinical Trial Unit (ACTU) at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking individuals over the age of 18 to participate in a research study looking at treatment intensification in HIV therapy. Subjects will add either an investigational medication called Raltegravir or a placebo to their current HIV medications. To qualify you must be HIV +, be taking therapy for HIV for at least 12 months, have a tcell count of 200 or more and have an undetectable viral load. Participation will last about 6 months and will involve about 11 outpatient visits. The study medication will be provided through the study as well as reimbursement for parking and transportation.
