Summary: Partial Onset Seizures - Adults and Minors

People with partial onset seizures are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by Montefiore Medical Center.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

• Are 16 years or older
• Have been diagnosed with partial onset seizures
• Have a history of AED failure

You may not participate in this study if you:

• Have generalized epileptic syndrome, primary generalized seizures, atonic seizures, typical or atypical seizures
• Have a history of Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome
• Have taken sedative or benzodiazepines for more than 3 days for seizures within the 3 months prior screening
• Have a history of kidney disease or kidney stones within the past 2 years
• Have a history of chronic liver disease, cirrhosis, liver cancer, heart disease, or planned epilepsy surgery in the next 12 months
• Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant during the study
• Have participated in another research study within the last 30 days
