Summary: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) - Adults

People with SLE are asked to participate in a research study being conducted by North Shore-LIJ Health System.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Have been diagnosed with SLE

You may not participate in this study if you:

  • Have another autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome, multiple sclerosis, or scleroderma
  • Are a substance abuser
  • Have a history of cancer
  • Have HIV or tuberculosis infection
  • Have received any antibiotics for infection within the past 2 weeks or received IV antibiotics for infection within the past month
  • Had a tissue or organ transplant (including bone marrow)
  • Have had kidney replacement therapy
  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant during the study
  • Have participated in another research study within the last 30 days
