Trial Information
Summary: SARC-009: A Phase II Trial of Dasantinib in Advanced Sarcoma
You have/your child has been asked to participate in this research study because you are/your child is at least 13 years of age and have/has been diagnosed with an unresectable (cannot be removed with surgery), recurrent (disease has returned), or metastatic (disease has spread to other parts of your body) soft tissue or bone sarcoma not treatable by standard treatment (surgery, radiation, and/or chemotherapy).
The purpose of this study is to find out how effective the investigational agent dasatinib is in treating sarcoma in terms of the tumor staying the same or shrinking and length of life. Safety and side effects will also be evaluated. Researchers will also look at tumor and blood specimens to study the level of dasatinib in the body over time and to find out whether the effects of the drug are related to different biological characteristics of the cancer.
Your/your child's treatment on this study will continue until you/your child’s disease worsens or you/your child experience unmanageable side effects. You/your child’s condition will be followed for about 5 years after you/your child starts treatment in this study.
