Summary: IBS with diarrhea

Ridgeview Research is participating in a clinical research study to determine if an investigational study drug is effective in the treatment of diarrhea associated with irritable bowel syndrome. You have a 3 out of 4 chance of receiving study drug and a 1 in 4 chance of receiving placebo, which is a pill with no active ingredient. If you complete this study, you may be eligible to participate in a roll-over study for IBS, in which everyone will receive the investigational study drug.

Patient Inclusion Criteria:

  • Age 18-70
  • You have abdominal discomfort or pain
  • The pain/discomfort is associated with more frequent stools.
  • You must have at least 3 stools a day
Patient Exclusion Criteria:
  • Currently taking cardiac medications
  • Have sensitivity or allergies to Verapamil or Calan
  • Other gastrointestinal diseases
