Summary: Phase II - Assessing the efficacy and safety of a new investigational drug when used together with a stable dose of L-dopa in the treatment of Parkinson's Disease
The purpose of the study is to assess the efficacy and safety of
a range of doses of a new investigational drug when used together
with a stable dose of L-dopa to treat Parkinson's Disease.
Patient Inclusion Criteria:
- Moderate to severe Parkinson's Disease for at least five
years, experiencing motor fluctuation and dyskinesias
- Age 30 and older
- Must have been on L-dopa for at least two years, dose must have
been stable for the past four months
- Hoehn and Yahr score: 2.5 - 4 in the "off"
states
Patient Exclusion Criteria:
- History or presence of major psychological disorders
- Unstable medical conditions
- Consumption of more than 8oz of alcohol per day
- Taking the drugs tolcapone or hepatotoxic drugs
