Diabetes is the leading cause of new cases of blindness among
adults ages 20 to 74 in America.1 According to the
International Diabetes Federation, 74% of people who have diabetes
for 10 years or more will develop some form of diabetic
retinopathy, which may result in diabetic macular edema (DME).
Genentech, Inc. is conducting two health studies (RIDE and RISE)
that are currently under way in your community that will help
determine if an investigational study drug is safe and effective in
DME.
You may qualify if:
- You been told that you have diabetes and/or are you being
treated for diabetes by a doctor
- You have thickening or swelling of the retina (inside of your
eye) in either of your eyes as a result of diabetes
- You are NOT on kidney dialysis or have had a kidney
transplant
- You are NOT currently enrolled in any other research and taking
medication which is not approved by FDA
