Trial Information
Summary: Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS)
People with relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis are asked to
participate in a research study being conducted by NYU Hospital for
Joint Diseases.
You may be eligible to participate in this study if
you:
- Are between the ages of 18 and 55 inclusive
- Have had 1 documented relapse in the past year or 2 documented
relapses in the past 2 years
You may not participate in this study if you:
- Have a different form of multiple sclerosis (other than
RRMS)
- Have Used immunosuppressive (including Mitoxantrone
(NovantroneŽ) or cytotoxic agents within 6 months prior to the
screening visit.
- Previously used either of the following: natalizumab,
(TysabriŽ), cladribine, laquinimod.
- Have a history of tuberculosis
- Have an infection 2 weeks prior to study start
- Have HIV or Hepatitis A,B, or C
- Have received a bone marrow transplant
- Have had major trauma surgery 2 weeks prior to study start
- Have used amiodarone within 2 years prior to screening
visit.
- Have had a heart attack within the past 6 months
- Have a gastrointestinal disorder, kidney, liver or other
metabolic diseases
- Have a history of drug or alcohol abuse or any major
psychiatric disorder
- Are unable to undergo an MRI
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or intend to become pregnant
during the study
- Have participated in another research study within the last 6
months
