Trial Information
Summary: Volunteers with Osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid Arthritis are needed for a research study
This study is for patients with a type of arthritis-called
osteoarthritis (OA) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA) whose doctor
believes will benefit from daily treatment with anti-inflammatory
medicines, called NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)
used to control arthritis pain. The study involves three different
study drugs that are FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved to
treat arthritis pain. The testing of one drug compared with the
other two drugs is considered investigational. The purpose of this
study is to assess the effects of long-term use (greater than 12
months) of one drug compared to the other two drugs on
cardiovascular (heart and blood vessel), gastrointestinal (stomach)
and renal (kidney) health. The ability of each drug to control
arthritis pain effectively will also be evaluated. Eligible
patients will receive study medication, study-related medical care
and testing at no charge and may also be compensated for their
travel expenses and time.
To be eligible for the study patients must:
- Be male or female 18 years of age or older
- Have a diagnosis of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis for
at least 6 months
- Be determined by their doctor to have cardiovascular disease or
risk factors for developing cardiovascular disease
