Summary: New Investigational Anti-HIV Drug
This study investigates the ability of a CCR5 receptor blocker,
in combination with Optimized Background Therapy (OBT), to decrease
the level of HIV virus (viral load) in the blood of study
volunteers
Patient Inclusion Criteria
- HIV-1 positive adults at least 18 years of age,
- HIV-1 RNA greater than 1000 copies/mL within last 2 months
either on a stable regimen of 3 or more antiretroviral drugs for at
least 4 weeks at screening or not on any antiretroviral drugs for
at least 4 weeks before screening.
Patient Exclusion Criteria
- No detectable CXCR4-tropic or dual/mixed CCR5/CXCR4-tropic HIV
isolates at screening.
