Trial Information
Summary: Phase II - ACC-001 Vaccine treatment for mild to moderate Alzheimer's Disease, trial study
This study opens in November.
The Alzheimer's vaccine is not a typical vaccine. It does
not prevent Alzheimer's disease. However, it is a new approach
to treatment. It is called a vaccine because the drug will actually
harness the patient's immune system to treat the disease.
Alzheimer's disease is believed by many to be caused by
accumulation of protein in the brain. Other Alzheimer's disease
treatments have aimed at slowing the buildup of protein in the
brain. The vaccine works differently. The vaccine activates the
patient immune system to actually remove the protein.
