Summary: Influenza Specific Humoral and Cellular Immunity After Vaccination in Recipients of Allogeneic and Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
Healthy Adult Participant - You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are a healthy adult who has agreed to donate bone marrow or stem cells for transplantation. The purpose of this study is to compare blood samples from healthy adults to blood samples from hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) recipients to determine how transplant recipients respond to the influenza (also known as the flu) vaccine. Your scheduled participation in this study is expected to last one day.
Recipient - You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are about to undergo a marrow or stem cell transplantation and are at risk for infection with influenza virus also know as the flu after transplantation. The purpose of this study is to compare blood samples from healthy adults to blood samples from transplant recipients to determine how transplant recipients respond to the influenza (also known as the flu) vaccine. Your scheduled participation in this study is expected to last one year after vaccination.
