Trial Information

Summary: Studies of Prevalence and Immunity to KB and JC Viruses in Normal Volunteers

You have

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are a healthy adult who has a particular type of HLA (protein capable of causing an immune response).  Many healthy adults test positive for BK virus (BKV) and JC virus (JCV) without showing any symptoms because their immune systems are able to fight these infections.   The purpose of this study is to evaluate how common positive blood tests for BKV and/or JCV are and which cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL, white blood cells that fight infection) create immune responses to these viruses.  Your participation in this study is expected to last two years.
