Summary: Identification of Genes and Pathways in Tumorigenesis and Progression of Malignant Melanoma

Because you have a skin lesion or tumor that started from the skin, you have been asked to participate.  The purpose of this study is to study new genes and cell proteins that control the growth of skin tumors, including melanoma.  The study will use a small portion of your skin tissue to perform laboratory studies for the research.  Your participation in this study is expected to last the day of surgery.  In the next 5 years we may look into your medical records to obtain your information regarding the status of your skin tumor overtime.
