Summary: Mechanisms of Response and Resistance to STI571 in CML
You have been asked to participate in this research study because you have been diagnosed to have chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) or acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and will receive, or are receiving, treatment with STI571 or have received an allogeneic bone marrow transplant. The purpose of this study is to study samples of your bone marrow to understand how STI571 induces disease remissions in CML and ALL and why some patients respond and others do not respond to STI571 treatment. We will also try to develop methods to predict which patients will respond to STI571, Your participation on this companion study is expected to last 5 years or as long as you are participating in the treatment study to receive STI571.
