Summary: Molecular Mechanisms of Hyperglycemia and Diabetes Induced Monocyte Activation

You have been asked to participate in this research study because you are a normal healthy adult, or you have either Juvenile Diabetes (insulin requiring or Type I diabetes) or Adult onset Diabetes (Type II diabetes). The purpose of this study is to determine whether certain types of white cells in the blood (monocytes) have altered characteristics that would make them more susceptible to stick to the vessel wall and take up fatty substances called lipids. Your participation in this study is expected to last about 3 months.
